What is Aesthetic Bullet Journaling?

Art doesn’t have to be pretty, it has to be meaningful.

Duane Hanson

The word ‘aesthetics’ is concerned with beauty or the appreciation of beauty. Many people have doubts in their minds regarding Aesthetic Bullet Journaling. They think that it’s something completely different and unassociated from other types of journals. However, this is completely wrong. You can make any type of journal into an aesthetic one, by decorating and adorning it.  There’s also this confusion about the difference between a normal Bullet Journal and an Aesthetic one. Well, it’s time you got it cleared.

Bullet Journals are a great means of organizing your routine, scheduling events, and listing tasks. They have many health benefits, such as allowing you to know yourself better, as well as being able to look back on important days/events etc. It’s also great for busy mothers who’d like to have a simple and efficient way of tracking down goals, tasks, chores, meals, and so on. To know more about Bullet Journaling in detail, see my other blogs: What is Bullet Journaling, Bullet Journaling – Getting Started, and Basics of Bullet Journaling.

Aesthetic Bullet Journaling is just about beautifying or decorating your Bullet Journal without going to points like painting and sketching. If you choose to start an Aesthetic Bullet Journal, you can make it as decorative and full of colour as you want (this includes adding pictures from magazines/newspapers etc), without keeping in mind all the nitty-gritty things like the Bullet System, logs, and trackers.

Aesthetic Bullet Journaling is more preferable for those people who like things to look appealing, and naturally love designing/beautifying things. They’ll find starting an Aesthetic Bullet Journal quite relaxing and fun, because not only does your journal look bright and colourful, it provides you with an opportunity to express yourself through doodles, embellishments and a little bit of artwork.

If you’re more of a normal person, who’d rather keep it simple, rather than delve into illustrations and decorations, then keeping a Minimalistic Bullet Journal is better and much more advisable.

But really, sometimes you don’t even need to specify the type of journal you’re going to start on. You can make it a mix: part Minimalistic Bullet Journal, part Aesthetic, part whatever. The point is to get started, and to remember to keep moving forward. And no matter what, don’t forget to be creative!

If you make mistakes, it doesn’t matter, all you have to do is turn the page and move forward.  For more light on the matter, see my blogs on Covering Big Mistakes in your Journal; Hacks and Tips or Covering Small Mistakes in your Journal; Hacks and Tips.
