What is Bullet Journaling?

Asking the right questions takes as much skill as giving the right answers.

Many people have doubts in their minds regarding the purpose and meaning of a Bullet Journal. There’s also this confusion about the difference between a normal journal and a Bullet Journal. Well, it’s time you got it cleared.

Keeping a normal journal has many benefits, that’s true. It’s a means of writing down what you experience and feel each day. It reduces stress and clarifies your thoughts and feelings. Journaling can also be done digitally on apps like Diaro and Day One.

However, the drawback here is that journaling takes loads of time; the more detailed and long the entry, the more effort you put in. The more energy and effort you put in, the more of a chore it becomes, the more likely you’ll leave/abandon journaling.

Hence, Bullet Journals are much more advantageous and productive as compared to normal journals. Rapid Logging is the language in which the bullet journal is written. To know about Rapid Logging in detail, see my other blog Basics of Bullet Journaling.

Now, let’s get to the purpose of a bullet journal.

Bullet Journals are a great means of organizing your routine, scheduling events, and listing tasks. They have many health benefits, such as allowing you to know yourself better, as well as being able to look back on important days/events etc. It’s also great for busy mothers who’d like to have a simple and efficient way of tracking down goals, tasks, chores, meals, and so on.

There are many types of Bullet Journals; minimalistic, artistic, aesthetic, super-organized and scrapbook-style. To know more about those, see Types of Bullet Journals.

A good way to look at a Bullet Journal is as a framework. The framework of a Bullet Journal is divided into what is known as modules. There are five core modules in the Bullet Journal framework: Index, Future Log, Monthly Log, Weekly Log, and Daily Log. To know more about them in detail, visit my blog Basics of Bullet Journaling.

The idea when starting a Bullet Journal is to have confidence in yourself that you can make it to the end of the year. Without having confidence in yourself, you mightn’t be able to survive bullet journaling the whole year. If you make mistakes, it doesn’t matter, all you have to do is turn the page and move forward.  For more reference, see my blogs on Covering Big Mistakes in your Journal; Hacks and Tips or Covering Small Mistakes in your Journal; Hacks and Tips,.
