Set your goal, and keep moving forward.
Most of the time, people get overwhelmed by the things they see other skilled people doing on the Internet, and resort to accepting that they can’t do what others do. However, that’s not right. Everyone is capable of everything, and it’s just us that says we can’t.
If you make a small/minor mistake in your Bullet/Aesthetic Journal (or actually anywhere else), it’s totally fine, and all you need to do is forget about it and move forward.
However, just in case you feel really bummed and exasperated at yourself for destroying or smudging up the page (or doodle or whatever), here are a few tips and tricks that can get you started again:
1. Cover it with washi-tape!
I’ve always found covering my mistakes with colourful washi-tape and bits of paper quite handy and satisfactory; not only does your mistake get covered, but your page gets decorated too!
2. Whiten it out (with a whitener)!
Whitening your mistakes isn’t really the best solution, because it tends to look really unusual and out of place if your page is of another colour. Also, writing on top of white ink can prove to be hazardous, as some pens don’t write on it while others just smudge it up.
3. Blacken it out!
Another efficient way is to blacken out the mistake with a normal pen, and then write on top of it with a white pen or a thin-tip whitener. This turns out looking really nice and appealing.
4. Turn it into something else!
For example, say you messed up a small doodle or embellishment. The best way to cover it up is to turn it into something else, such as a black floral pattern, etc. Sometimes, you can even turn the entire page into something different, like a doodle page or an interesting illustration (this can be done for big mistakes too).
5. Turn it into a banner/embellishment!
If your mistake includes spelling errors or smudges, blacken them out and make a small banner/header or some embellishment out of it.
6. Stick a small picture on it!
Another nice way to cover up a small mistake of yours is to glue/tape a small picture of yourself, your family/friends, or of some sort of scenery/abstract art. This not only covers up your terrible mistake, in fact, it causes your Bullet/Aesthetic journal page to look better and more pleasing to the eye.
7. Make a mini paper pocket!
You can do this by gluing the edges of a piece of paper to your Bullet/Aesthetic journal, creating a sort of a mini pocket, in which you can insert all sorts of things of your liking.
