I am Microsoft Certified for Azure Fundamentals!

I passed the AZ-900 Microsoft Azure Fundamentals Exam yesterday, on the 6th of August 2020, with 960 points out of 1000 (see below). I am now officially Microsoft Certified for Azure Fundamentals! According to Microsoft, “earners of the Azure Fundamentals certification have demonstrated foundational level knowledge of cloud services and how those services are provided with Microsoft Azure.”

I received a certificate from Satya Nadella, the CEO of Microsoft, as well as an official badge (see below) on Acclaim, and you can view more details about this badge by clicking here.

If you’re wondering how I passed, well, let me give you some quick tips on how you can prepare for this exam:

Firstly, schedule the exam

If you really want to study for the AZ-900 Microsoft Azure Fundamentals Exam, then you must go ahead and schedule it – either online with Pearson OnVUE or with a Certiport test centre. I gave the exam online at home, using the Pearson OnVUE test-taking system. For more info about OnVUE, click here.

I had access to a voucher, so I was able to schedule the exam for no fee at all اَلْحَمْدُ لِلّٰه (thank god), but normally, the fee is $99 or £69 for the AZ-900 Fundamentals exam.

Prepare from the Microsoft “Learn” Site

I prepared/studied for the AZ-900 exam through Microsoft’s Learn Website, which you can access for free by clicking here. They have really great content available for free, organised into a total of 4 modules. The best thing about learning from the website is that you also earn XP while studying, which helps you to gradually go up in terms of “levels” and encourages you to keep learning.

Another good feature is that you can “collect” modules in your own collection, so that you don’t have to search for them every single time (see below).

Do the Walkthroughs!

In between all of the written content on the website, there are also some practical Walkthroughs which are equally important, and you must do them. Even though the Microsoft AZ-900 Azure Fundamentals Exam is not a technical/hands-on examination, the Walkthroughs will really help you to absorb the content and understand it. Here’s an example of a Walkthrough on the Microsoft Learn website:

Take short notes

While studying from the Microsoft Learn website, try to take down quick notes about important points which you feel you need to remember/revise later on. For videos on me studying the notes + making them, see my video below (it’s public on my YouTube channel too):

Search online for sample questions

You can search online for some sample questions for the AZ-900 Azure Fundamentals exam, you will arrive at some websites (such as certlibrary.com) which will give you some brief sample questions, and these will help you to understand the format of questioning, as well as allowing you to test yourself on the stuff you learnt so far.
